Wilkinson Sword: from swords to razors

Wilkinson Sword
Today, I like to write a post about a great razor company: Wilkinson Sword. Wilkinson Sword, founded in London in 1772, was first manufacturing swords, and then started to produce different kind of gardening tools and shaving accessories like razors and razor blades. Wilkinson Sword has also manufactured in the past guns, bayonets, and other objects such as typewriters, garden shears, scissors, and motorcycles. Wilkinson Sword has manufactured all its ranges of products in three UK sites over its history: in Chelsea and Acton next to London, Cramlington in Northumberland and Bridgend in Wales, where they made gardening tools. In 2000, an executive decision was made to close its razor plant in the UK and consolidated its growing production in Germany.
Wilkinson Sword is owned by Energizer Holdings who bought the Company from Pfizer in 2003, and Proctor and Gamble - Gillette (not held in Europe or North America). The company produces a four-blade razor that is marketed under the Wilkinson Sword brand in Europe and the Schick brand in North America and Australia.

Schick: Wilkinson Sword in North America and Australia
At the origine of shaving with disposable razor blades, Wilkinson Sword introduced the stainless steel blade. With a little care a single double edged blade would last for weeks, comparing to Gillette blades which lasted only a few days. It wasn’t long before all other shaving blade manufacturers had to follow.
