While the iPhone is getting the cut and paste functionality, other mobile phone manufacturers are trying a litteral implementation of a cutting tool. Indeed, the Cool758 mobile phone is a very interesting invention as it let its owner make phone calls (which, so far is a normal function on a mobile), but it also allow him to use its shaver on the base of the phone to shave! It’s far from the Motorola RAZR, as this phone really integrates a shaver, making it the first “razor phone” or “shaving phone“.
Cool758: The razor phone that really shaves
If shaving isn’t your thing, there’s always its dual-sim capability, a touchscreen, an FM radio, and a 2 megapixel camera to fall back on. The Cool758 is available on the site Solomobi.com is currently selling around £70.

Hommage, the Parisian purveyor of luxury grooming equipment, skincare and spa services for men, has created a limited edition, platinum-sheathed straight razor using the same ancient layering techniques as the Crusaders’ swords, for $30,000. Called the Damascene Razor, the blade is hand-forged in Germany with 128 layers of legendary Damascene steel, with a rose and torsion pattern. The sheath is plated in pure platinum, treated to resist tarnishing. The name Damascene is often attributed to the steel swords made in the vicinity of Damascus, Syria and first gained its mythical reputation during the medieval Crusades.
Damascene Razor: The World's Most Expensive Razor for $30,000
The razor comes in a lacquered gift box of Tanzanian anigré wood. According to Hommage, “the blade of a Damascus steel sword was said to be able to cut a piece of silk in half as it fell to the ground and was strong enough to cut through a rock without losing its sharpness“, it can also be used to eventually get the world’s most expensive shave.
You can also check Hommage new shaving set, the Hommage Monte-Carlo Shave Set which costs £2,625, manufactured at 500 pieces.

This week, I like to share with you some funny inventions and gadgets. Today, we have the Goatee Saver, the ultimate device to ensure sculpting a perfect goatee when shaving. The idea of using such a thing is very straight forward! Simply shave around the GoateeSaver and then a part of your month wouldn’t be shaved. A left over hair is your goatee. Very nice! I even managed to find a video on Youtube which presents how the Goatee Saver works. Important: The lady from the video is not provided with this gadget:
Another great invention for people who love to get a close shave: The Rolling Razor. The Rolling Razor is just under 2.5 inches long and fits comfortably on your index finger, while traditional stick razors are approximately 6 inches long. Beyond Rolling Razor’s unique, proprietary and patented design & technology, it is simply a more natural way to shave. The short distance between the handle and the blades provides you with greater control and accuracy. The curved cartridges don’t scrape against your skin like flat cartridges do; they roll easily and comfortably with your contours for an effective and comfortable shaving experience, eliminating unnecessary irritation. Plus, it’s a really cool looking razor!
The Rolling Razor
The dual heads are an optional feature, which allow for 360 degrees of pure rotational motion. The truest multidirectional shaving experience with the grain and against, the Rolling Razor is the easiest, fastest and most efficient shave, whether you use one Cartridge or two.
This is a presentation video of the Rolling Razor which also demonstrates how to use it:
What a catch! Look at this find on the Science Museum’s website! It’s a Gillette Safety Razor from the 1930’s in is original package, including the set of disposable blades. I hope you will enjoy seeing such a nice razor:
Rectangular box of walnut phenolic with hinged lid, with a Gillette safety razor and blade container containing two packets of razor blades.
